FLO menus and navigation

The FLO Navigation and Course Navigation Menus appear on the left of the screen.

Accessing topic assessment requirements

As of 2025, Statement of Assessment Methods (SAMs) will no longer be available in FLO.
For topic assessment information, refer to the Assignment information link in your Course Navigation Menu within FLO or visit your topic page in the Flinders Handbook.

Access and organise your topics

Topics will normally appear on your dashboard 7 days before they start.
Customise your dashboard to suit your display preferences and highlight the topics most important to you.

Check your notification settings

Each course will contain activities that result in notifications being sent for items such as important topic announcements, grade releases, or assignment submissions. These notifications are on a default setting, but can be changed in your account profile.

Set up your time zone

Check your time-zone settings to make sure that FLO reflects your local time zone.

Help others in your topic get to know you better by putting a face to your name.

Discussions

Discussions are one of the key communication tools within your topic. Participation in discussions may also be part of your assessment.

Tutorials and workshops in Teams

Teams is our online live collaboration space. It has a range of functions, including chat, audio, video, and screen-sharing.

You may use it to participate in an online lecture or tutorial, deliver a presentation, participate in direct consultation with a teacher, or hold a group discussion.

Using online topic resources such as Readings, Studio, and Mahara

Essential reading materials

The essential reading materials selected by your topic coordinator for your topic, including books, book chapters journal articles and videos, are mostly available in a one-stop shop we call Readings.

Clicking on the FLO Readings link will take you to a new page that lists the readings selected by your Topic Coordinator, and containing links to the Library FindIt catalogue. The links will provide electronic access to online materials, details on finding hard copy materials, and in some instances, direct links to book chapters or other resources.

Studio is an integrated video recording tool that can be used to create and edit videos within FLO.

Did you know that when you submit your text-based assignment, a Turnitin Text-matching report will automatically be generated?

Extensions

There may come a time when difficult or unforeseen circumstances may prompt you to request extra time to submit a particular assignment.

Resubmissions

Sometimes you may need to make changes to a submitted assignment; you may have uploaded the wrong file, or your teacher may have requested you resubmit.

Quizzes may form part of your assessment. There are two different quiz layouts, so some quizzes may look different to others.

FeedbackFruits is a group member evaluation and peer review tool.

Some FLO assignments may also require peer review.

Your grades and feedback

Once your teacher has marked your work, your assessment grades and feedback will be available in FLO. Topic grades are available from the Student Information System.

Please make sure you include the information we need to help you. Please clearly identify yourself, tell us which topic you need help with, and clearly identify the relevant assignment, lecture recording, etc. Any screenshots you can provide are most appreciated.
